Cymarshall Law and Elzhi Bring You to the "Bullet Train"

This gem has been sitting in my inbox for a few days because I haven't had the time to get it on the blog because of school issues. I am glad that I finally have time to get this up because it features two of the illest emcees in the game right now. "Bullet Train" is a track by Cymarshall Law, and it features the always flame throwing Elzhi and the female emcee Masia One.

If you haven't heard of Elzhi or Cymarshall Law you really need to do yourself a favor and jump on the bandwagon. They put out two of the best albums of last year with no question and they have some of the best flow and rhymes that you will ever here. It seems like they are both able to make any beat they are given and make it their home. Elzhi really kills the beat, "I steamroll your team whole/get your whole dream stole/then take my supreme role as an extreme goal/I been in my zone chattin' on an iPhone with a chick twistin' up trees like a cyclone". Masia One and Cymarshall Law follow in the same line and kill this hard hitting synth beat. If you like good rhymes do yourself a favor and download this one, you will be very dissapointed if you don't.

Get Ready For Soundset 2009

On Sunday, May 24, 2009, Rhymesayers Entertainment and Rose Presents brings you the second annual Soundset: the official Midwest kick-off festival of the summer with over eight hours of the best independent Hip Hop music in one day. It all goes down at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN (rain or shine).
This is the first round of artists we are announcing, this IS NOT the final lineup.

Michael Cera answers our prayers!

Well it looks like the movie gods are shining down on me (and all of you Arrested Development fans) today. I went to my nifty Digg RSS feed, and saw the article titled “Michael Cera Says Yes To Arrested Develpoment Movie!!! Finally!” and yes, all of the exclamation points are a total necessity. There was a period of time where Michael Cera was saying that he didn’t want to do an Arrested Development movie at all. He was quoted as saying “I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway. And I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.” I don’t have a direct quote from an article because I can’t find one that old, but I read that exact quote numerous times.

All I can tell you is that this might have been the most joyous moment I’ve experienced in the last few years. I’ve been missing the Bluth family like crazy - don’t get me wrong the DVD’s are great, but I need something new. The Bluth family saw their demise from television far too early. I truly believe that Arrested Development is the best sitcom of all time (not Seinfeld). The humor that was on this show was far ahead of its time and I personally don’t think there has been a show as funny since. I need something to fill that Arrested Development void, and I feel as though this may be it.

I can’t wait to see Michael putting up with the whole family again, Buster “the one armed man” hanging out with mother, Tobias Funke (The world’s first Analrapist) making those genuinely subconscious homophobic sexual innuendos like he always does, George Michael crushing on Maebe, & most of all Gob Bluth screwing up his magic tricks and life on a regular basis. The good part is that I know it’s coming to the big screen, now all I have to do is wait…

Rjd2 Drops Some New Material

I can tell you that nothing in the enitre world made me happier than reading this news article last night. Ramble John Krohn (Rjd2 for short) is almost done with his fourth studio album, and he has three tracks that have been leaked. RJ released Third Hand a couple years back and a lot of fans were wondering why RJ took a sudden direction turn away from Hip-Hop. Even though RJ strayed away from Hip-Hop I can say that I never lost faith in this man. I will never forget Dead Ringer and hearing the track "Ghostwriter" for the first time in my best friend's car (thanks Abe). Dead Ringer changed the way that I felt about production in Hip-Hop music, and for that I will always show RJ love. There is a good chance that he will forever be in my top 5 for production skills.

I remember that Pitchfork wrote an article about RJ "ditching" Hip-Hop, and I personally couldn't believe it. How could a man with so much talent in one area (MHz, Soul Position) depart from the one genre that gave him his name? I later heard an Rjd2 produced Little Brother track called "Best Kept Secret" and my heart was filled with joy. It was then I knew that Pitchfork had been totally wrong and I could continue on with my life.

Flash forward to yesterday. I hear that Rjd2 has three new tracks out and I have no idea what to think. Is he going to go back to his roots? Is he going to stay indie rock? Let me tell you that this was one of the best surprises I have had yet this year (granted we are only two months in). These tracks sound like some absolute gems from the Dead Ringer days with RJ back at the top of his game. If you personally were a fan of Dead Ringer or Since We Last Spoke, you couldn't be happier with these tracks. Make sure you give these tracks a good listen because there is plenty more great material to come. Be sure that you also know I am waiting for this record like Christmas, and you should be to if you are an Rjd2 fan.
